Friendship Force International
ABOUT US
History & People The club was formed in 1984 and is the oldest Friendship Force club in the Pacific Northwest corner of the United States of America. The club membership is about fifty, with singles and families evenly divided. Many members are retirees and have lots of time to spend with their guests. Although people come from throughout the greater Seattle-Tacoma metropolitan area and its suburbs, our monthly "home socials" and active programs help maintain a strong sense of community in the club.

Hosting Capacity If there are only a few singles, we can host 15 to 20. If at least half of the group are singles, the maximum number we can host is 10 to 15.

Airport & Transport The Seattle-Tacoma Airport is the closest major airport. Normally hosts meet guests at the airport and there are no transportation costs.

Climate The climate is mild-marine with little rainfall in the summer. It can be cool in the evenings, but the summer sun sets late. The best time to visit our club is from May to October.

Region We are between the jagged Olympic Mountains to the west and the volcanic peaks of the Cascade range to the east. Expect evergreen forests, racing rivers, rain forests, frozen glaciers, a rugged Pacific coast, Mount Rainier, and the San Juan Islands. Most of the state's population is here in Puget Sound. Abundant hydroelectric power has attracted industries such as aircraft and electronics, adding to those of long standing like lumbering, shipping and commercial fishing. Tacoma is considered the forest products capital of the nation., Seattle is an outdoors city, clean and young as cities go. There's water everywhere and greenery abounds. So much so that Seattle is nicknamed "The Emerald City."

Activities Hosts greet Ambassadors at the airport with a large welcome banner and signs with Ambassador names. We have a welcoming lunch or picnic and a farewell dinner. Beyond that, activity possibilities are limitless: beach-forest-or mountain walks, Space Needle, Pacific Ocean, Boeing Museum of Flight, Olympic Rain Forest, Pike Place Market, boating excursions, Fishermen's Terminal, ship locks in Ballard, local live theatre, San Juan Islands, industrial tours, migrating salmon, family gatherings, etc. Depending on time and budget, Hosts and Day Hosts help plan activities. We enjoy being good hosts, good guests, and understanding friends.
